The Fourth

Man, I do love me some birthdays...America's was no exception. We started it out right with the parade down at the OC (our affectionate name for my parent's subdivision in South Austin). I crack up every year when the "security" starts it off. Something about an 90-year-old man who can barely see the road that makes one wonder just how strong the force is down there. I digress. All that matters about the parade is that there's candy. And, in land ...

Top Ten: Things I Miss

We all have a list somewhere - whether written down or in our noggins - of things gone by that we would love to have back. Sometimes, we're driving down the road and said missed item/experience pops in our heads and we smile with a little regret, a little nostalgia. Seeing life through our nutso lens the last few weeks has allowed me reflect on those little bits and I thought I'd share them with you. Feel free to share ...

Graduation

Um, yeah, so this one is like 6 weeks overdue. I promise I thought I already posted this. Guess not. I'm totally blaming it on pregnancy brain. John Paul's PK graduation was a hoot. I could see my sister-in-law at the end of the pew wondering what all the fuss was about. You just wait until it's your kiddo walking up that aisle 🙂 And, yes, that will happen in a flash. They sang, they looked cute and they "graduated" to ...

Lovin’ Every Minute

Don't you just love the smiles on those faces? Last week we celebrated VBS at our parish, "Crocodile Dock." It was way fun. The kids enjoyed making new friends, singing new songs, learning about God and the icing on the cake - they were totally wiped out for naptime. Hooray for the family nap!Anna-Laura would be the cutie-patootie looking upward at one of our teen volunteers to learn those motions. She totally rocked the motions. It was my fourth (and final!) ...

Top Ten: Seriously?

It's been a wacky six weeks around Casa Whitaker. I say wacky because this is a family blog and I don't need hate mail 🙂 Me thinks I write this more for a theraputic reason than any other. In between each of these, has been some tears. Ok, ok, lots of tears. Just the other day, Scott said to me he thinks I've cried more in the past month than in our entire 13 years of marriage. The last bit ...

Birthday Girl!!

And just that fast, we zoomed from 1 to 2. In the throws of parenthood, it's often said that the days are long, but the years are short. Whoever said that, a thousand AMENs!Last night we celebrated Clare's 2nd birthday (although the official day is today!), just a few weeks after moving into the new digs. If memory serves me correctly, we celebrated Master Will's second birthday just a week after moving into our last house. Surely that doesn't mean ...

Howdy!

... and welcome to the chaos. I know a thing or two about big families (I've got 6 kids), carpool, Catholic converts, the Texas Aggies, prematurity, date nights with Mr. Whitaker, organization and party planning, but I still don't know why it's so hard for my kids to  put up their shoes. My Texas-sized heart is honored to have you here! Contact me at kathrynwhitakertx@gmail.com
