Top Ten: Seriously?

It’s been a wacky six weeks around Casa Whitaker. I say wacky because this is a family blog and I don’t need hate mail 🙂 Me thinks I write this more for a theraputic reason than any other. In between each of these, has been some tears. Ok, ok, lots of tears. Just the other day, Scott said to me he thinks I’ve cried more in the past month than in our entire 13 years of marriage. The last bit of tears came out today, somewhere along MoPac in an abandoned parking lot, while it was pouring down rain. I kinda felt like the weather today…

So, help me in my therapy and read along. As much as we joke and shed the occasional tear, there is still SO much in which to be thankful. Just read yesterday’s miraculous post. I just needed to get it all out of my system…here goes!

TOP TEN: I CAN’T MAKE THIS STUFF UP

1. Scott hits a deer after dropping Will off at school, we file an “animal collision” claim.

2. We sustain some serious damage from a hail storm in April, file a claim and put a new roof on the old house.

3. Same hail storm pummels Scott’s Accord. Yep, another claim.

4. The 20-week ultrasound shows some abnormal findings. We schedule our amnio.

5. We close on the new house, but the sellers won’t hand over the keys until the funds clear their account. (that little learning lesson came in handy about two weeks later)

Oh, we’re just getting started folks…

6. We think we’re closing on the old house, but it’s delayed 10 days due to the ever-efficient USDA folks. Gotta love the government.

7. I celebrate my 35th birthday camped out in our hall closet listening to, oh, what’s that? More freakin’ hail and tornado sirens.

8. Lovely second hail storm demolishes both cars, which of course we couldn’t pull into the garage because it was full of boxes. Make that two more claims to the insurance company. Check and check.

9. And, because we hadn’t gotten to know our agent well enough, we decided to throw in a claim for the roof on the new house as well. Yep. Another new roof according to our claims adjuster.

10. I visit my new OB and she detects a heart arrythmia, so I book an appointment with a cardiologist.

Let’s all say it together – Crazy…you must leave the building. Seriously.

With that, we’ll call this Wednesday a wrap and say PRAISE GOD it’s a three-day weekend.
