Grazie!
For you and your generosity, that is. You see, we kept a running tab of all the things people did for us after Luke was born and the list grew and grew and grew. My naive mind thought, "Oh, I can write all those while I sit in the hospital." Ha. Ha. Ha. I think I wrote five (so if you got one back in early October consider yourself lucky!)I had several folks tell me not to bother, they knew ...
Happy Feast of the Baptism of our Lord!
I am one day off, but you get the jist. This weekend's Mass was heavenly (I got to nurse in the nursing mom's room, complete with closed circuit TV and a glider - WOW!). The kids had great behavior which always makes for a more enjoyable time, right? Fr. Guzaldo was our visiting priest this weekend and he had some good reminders about the Sacrament of Baptism. It got me thinking about our own children's big days, which led me to ...
Top Ten: A Great Woman
You may remember a few weeks back when I mentioned that my paternal grandmother fell and broke her hip. She's a spunky 86-year-old who has been a matriach of the family for a very, very long time. She birthed five children, was mom to six, joined my grandfather in the family jewelry/watch making business, is a dyed-in-the-wool Texas Democrat and drinks a can of Coors just about every day. She's weathered brain cancer, bladder cancer, the untimely death of her adult ...
Potty Time
Oh, finally. We are down to one kiddo in diapers. Sad/not sad all in the same breath. Bank account, so not sad.Clare has been ready for a while, we just had a few "other" things on our minds. We decided the Christmas break was our best bet, so we went for it last Monday. Mostly, she's been pretty good. We've haven't had full success but we're getting there. I suppose my heart hasn't fully been in it and that's probably ...
Happy New Year!
Yes, we're slightly behind time around here. But, we're just in denial that the new year gets fully underway this week as Scott and the kids head back to work and school. My day-to-day pretty much stays the same.I must say (to borrow the analogy from a friend Ali), being a stay-at-home mom is sometimes the loneliest job in the world. The holidays bring excitement, fun, lazy mornings, pajamas 'til noon, late night movies and adult conversation. It's divine. And ...
Jesus’ Birthday was Fantabulous
Any of you with kids in school know what a rat race December can be. Well, this year because of all the stuff going on with Luke, we bypassed buying the tickets to that crazy show. Thank you Jesus.I didn't remember to send the kids sweet note to their teachers via email, as requested by the PTO.I didn't remember to bring the juice boxes I signed up for to their party.I didn't host our family's annual open house.I didn't get the tree ...
.

... and welcome to the chaos. I know a thing or two about big families (I've got 6 kids), carpool, Catholic converts, the Texas Aggies, prematurity, date nights with Mr. Whitaker, organization and party planning, but I still don't know why it's so hard for my kids to put up their shoes. My Texas-sized heart is honored to have you here! Contact me at kathrynwhitakertx@gmail.com
