The Rockstar

Ok, why didn't anybody tell me I was getting so chatty? Sheez. The lack of cute pictures of our kids are greatly lacking. Shame on me.Here's Will, aka "1B Rockstar". Scott took him to get the cast on Thursday morning and by the time I picked up him up from school, his cast was completely covered in names. Really, that's got to be the best part about breaking your arm. All the kids are trying to figure out how he ...

Theology on Tap

On Tuesday evening, Scott and I were invited to speak to a really cool group, Theology on Tap. It's a young group of Catholics (21-35, so Scott and I just slid under the mat on this one) that discuss various aspects of Christianity. Our topic? "Are Men and Women Really Created Equal?"To be honest, this was a tough topic for Scott and I. We turned to scripture, four passages to be exact, and reflected on our life experiences during the ...

Top Ten: Best Things About Lent

Even though we still have the Christmas lights in the garage (hey, at least they're off the house), Lent is officially here. I have the black ashy forehead to prove it. As I sit here drinking my Dr. Pepper (no, that I did NOT give up this year), I was racking my brain trying to think of a good top ten for this week. So many choices, you know? Like, "10 things we've learned from the ER" or "10 things ...

Top Ten: Things I’ve Learned Since Becoming a Mom

I feel like I could write a book on this week's top ten, but I don't have that much time!! Oh, and sorry for the lack of pictures. The camera took a nasty fall from the bar last week and the lens is a goner. Be patient, we'll be back with pictures soon.THINGS I'VE LEARNED SINCE BECOMING A MOM1. That it's possible to love other human beings so much that it hurts. I love my husband, but you love your ...

No School!

Anybody wanna play hookey with us? Yep, Will's school is cancelled tomorrow. Snow? Are you kidding, this is Texas! Staff day? Nope. Pope in town? We wish. You'll never believe this. Of the 396 kids in school, 60 of 'em, plus a dozen or so staff members are out sick. So, the pastor closed school and hired a professional cleaning crew to get rid of whatever nastiness has inhabited St. Theresa! The kids are already chanting, "No school, no school!" ...

They’re here, they’re here!

The birthday pictures have arrived...finally. We had a Cookie Monster party - always looking for something different, you know? And, we're BIG cookie fans at Casa Whitaker, so why not? We had 16 kids and three babies (all within a month of one another) and a whole lotta noise. We had the kids decorate cookies which went great, except we're still finding sprinkles (whose idea was that???) And, they made a jar of cookies (all the dry ingredients) with the ...

Howdy!

... and welcome to the chaos. I know a thing or two about big families (I've got 6 kids), carpool, Catholic converts, the Texas Aggies, prematurity, date nights with Mr. Whitaker, organization and party planning, but I still don't know why it's so hard for my kids to  put up their shoes. My Texas-sized heart is honored to have you here! Contact me at kathrynwhitakertx@gmail.com
