This, That and the Other
It's been a while since I blogged. Not in the literal sense. Yeah, I guest posted this week and wrote a few venting blogs over the weekend, but I haven't really blogged like the old Kathryn in a really, really long time. At least it feels that way to me. For the record, I really miss her. She was funny (sometimes) and honest (always) and herself. This week I read a great article about motherhood and contentment, or lack thereof, over ...
Top Ten: Kairos
Oh, you know how it works. Somebody posts some link on facebook and before you know it you've clicked on three other links and gotten sucked into the internet vortex. My most recent adventure, however, was 100% worthwhile. I found this article about measuring time in Chronos or Kairos. Chronos is real time, how life actually happens. But, Kairos? That's God's time. If I measured my week - shoot, my LIFE - in Chronos I would be so depressed. The ...
My Bucket List
I think we all have a bucket list, whether written down or not, of the things we want to do before we head north. Our experience with Luke has taught me to get busy, because none of us knows just how long we have. I'm not being all gloom and doom, I'm just saying get off your hiney and make some things happen. Today, I was reminded of my bucket list, and one item in particular. This morning in Rome, at ...
Happy New Year’s!
Last night, our neighbors hosted an early NYE party, sans kids. It was so fun. There was great food, drink, laughter, stories, white elephant gifts, more food and much more laughter. Really, the person who thought to bring the package of moustaches for a white elephant gift was genius, don't you think? We scored in that little game, though. $20 gift card to Chipotle! Tomorrow, I'll be sharing my new year's resolutions and the epiphany I had while running (yes, you ...
Advent: Trees!
I'm not sure how this one failed to jump in the queue, but here are the kids' trees, along with the family tree. When I was a little girl, my mom made wreaths for each of us in the family and hung them on our bedroom doors. I loved that wreath. It made me feel very loved, it was definitely decorated just for me and it brought a little Christmas to the place I called heaven in our home. The ...
Christmas Day!
Our morning didn't begin quite as early as I thought it might. We heard some "whispers" around 6:45am from the girls. They had discovered their Santa stash. The boys arrived shortly after, around 7am. There was lots of excitement, lots of smiles and lots of happy Whitaker children. My parents, brother, sister-in-law and niece came over around 10 and we had our family Christmas. There were many funny things said and a fair amount of wrapping paper. I'm pretty sure ...

... and welcome to the chaos. I know a thing or two about big families (I've got 6 kids), carpool, Catholic converts, the Texas Aggies, prematurity, date nights with Mr. Whitaker, organization and party planning, but I still don't know why it's so hard for my kids to put up their shoes.
