Cupcake Baking Party, in Pandemic Style

When you have a teenager, turning 15, during a global pandemic you get creative.

My girl loves to bake, but our dreams of having all the girls over to bake and decorate cupcakes (and do other crafts) in our kitchen just didn’t seem safe or smart, all things considered.
So, we moved it outside. Anna-Laura baked the cupcakes ahead of time and then we used a painter’s palette to hold all the toppings and each girl got her own bag of icing. The girls all sat on their own blankets, decorating cupcakes, drinking sweet tea and enjoying some good ‘ol fashioned conversation.

We included a few extra snacks in the shape of cupcakes, added some pretty flowers, decorated the sweetest farm table in our driveway and called it awesome.

It was easy, safe and memorable. Hey, you do what you gotta do!
“COOL” – as a fifteen year old might still say 🤷♀️
Thank you for coming up with a safe, responsible and fun birthday party. It goes to show that with a little creativity it is possible to celebrate in a fun but safe way.
Wow! What a great idea. I would do this with a group of gal pals and I’m 32. ;o)
You never, ever cease to amaze me. I love you my dear friend! What a fun party! I would have loved to come decorate cupcakes, drink sweet tea, eat yummy fruit, and talk!!! 🙂
So creative! Love the painters palettes to hold the sprinkles.
Where do you order the cookies?
We ordered them from a local baker in Austin.
I live in Cedar Park and would like to know the name of the baker if you are willing share!
Super cute and simply elegant party. We have a 12 year old daughter who shares a love for baking as well! We’re in Austin too, and I would love to know who made those adorable cookies.
