THANK YOU’S
The day is full of blessings which means there are many people to be thanked. I am a huge advocate of handwritten thank you notes. It comes from my 4-H background, I think. Don’t underestimate the power of a handwritten note. Teach your child how to write one and you’re teaching more than just handwriting and grammar. You’re teaching them to be gracious, a trait that seems to lend itself well to this sacrament.

You can purchase pre-made notes from your favorite store or you can fashion simple ones at home using cardstock or construction paper. A few years ago, I purchased some digital printable stationery from Olliegraphic and it has gotten a workout. We print only what we need and it can be used for a variety of occasions.

We’ve also made it a priority to thank our children’s Godparents. They are, after all, pretty special people. I know a fair amount of them read the blog, so to them I say:  CLOSE YOUR EYES, STOP READING AND COME BACK TOMORROW!

For the rest of you still reading, we’ve opted to purchase them a Godparent bowl from Clarey Clayworks. It’s beautiful and functional – the perfect spot to place your rosary.

CLAREY CLAYWORKS GIVEAWAY

I “met” Anne of Clarey Clayworks through Pinterest and then discovered she lives near our old house in Indiana. Talk about a small world. She is fabulously talented and handcrafts each of these First Communion bowls (she has an awesome Baptism one, as well). You can personalize it with your child’s name, cross color and date of First Communion. I know, they are simply stunning.

For now, the boys’ First Communion bowls reside high on a shelf in their closet. In a few years, though, I’ll pull them down, place them on a shelf and put their rosaries inside. Not only is it a beautiful keepsake, but a functional one, too. For my Indiana friends, you’re in luck. She does local deliveries! For the rest of us, she packages the bowls extremely well and sends them on their way. The box is almost as pretty as what’s inside. If you’re looking for a unique and functional gift for your child’s Godparents, she has a bowl for them, too. I know, they’re all awesome. Be sure you check out her Etsy site, full of stunning pieces.
