I Can’t Believe I Left This Off the Christmas Card…
For several years we’ve been doing this. But, during my revisions of designing this year’s Christmas card, I completely left it off. Eeek!
Every Christmas season, we save the cards we receive, put them in a pile and then pull out a couple each night for the next year, re-read them and pray for that family. It’s really win-win. The family gets prayers and our kids learn about people who shaped who we’ve become today. We just started the new pile yesterday!
Speaking of cards, this is ours for 2012. Not only was it a blast to design – I happen to like the client – but the kids joined in the Christmas card stuffing project 2012. There was only minimal whining, lots of Christmas Pandora and some sweet memories to boot.
In the spirit of “full disclosure” AKA “reality”, I should note that after everything was stamped and stuffed, the kids all bailed on me. As in, see ya. Luke was napping, the kids went outside to play with the neighbors and I seized the moment. I cranked Pandora and licked all those envelopes. IN COMPLETE SILENCE. Well, along with Bing Crosby and Harry Connick, Jr. It was lovely. Scott said to me the other day, “I don’t know anybody else that loves Christmas cards as much as you.” It’s true. I love making them, mailing them, receiving them and reading them. I love this time of year!
I pray your family has a wonderful Advent season. I’ll be sharing some fun things we do (and some epic fails, too) throughout the month. Go enjoy your weekend!
I love your Christmas Family Card!
What are the numbers on the shirts supposed to mean? Curious? We make our family Christmas shirts based on different nativity scenes we like. Sometimes I make the kids color a favorite Catholic theme picture for the season and I scan and use t-shirt transfer to place on their shirt.
God bless you. I always love your sight and your beautiful family!

Thanks, Jackie! The numbers on the shirts are the graduation year from Texas A&M. The hubs and I are hopeful the kids will go there, too. I love your idea.
This is a fantastic idea- I am definitely going to pass this on, especially to friends with kids!
Hahaha… THAT Christmas Card is awesome!!
Wow. I absolutely love love LOVE your tradition of praying for each family who sends a card. That may convince some people to actually send them! I am a huge fan of Christmas cards and last year started displaying them by hanging them from our bar. I loved adding more as the season went on, and I can’t wait to do it again. I love the card you did this year and those adorable t-shirts!
Kathryn, you have really outdone yourself this time… every little detail!
I was sort-of surprised to receive your card the day after Thanksgiving, as usual, with all that has been going on lately. And, then, I see you designed those awesome shirts!
When I grow up, I want to be just like you!!!
God bless!
