Last Day of School – YIPPEE!!!

There is something glorious and awesome and freeing about the last day of school.  Too bad mine involved a spilled vanilla DP and a bathroom accident.  But more on that later.

The kids floated out the door in “free dress” (aka non-uniform day) to a day full of gifts, parties and friends.  Clare and I made cookies for the class parties, then dropped Luke off at speech therapy and got a quick manicure before the end of school craziness.  It was so fun.  I’m so glad I took the time to do that with her, trying to capture some little moments this summer.

The parties were a roomful of crazy, but it dissapated as I went from one classroom to the next.  The older they become, the easier the kids, which makes for a much more manageable party.  Luke had bites of several things, none of which made him gag or throwup.  Yea for progress!  Will let me snap a few photos, I was able to get pictures of all the kids with their teachers, hug some necks and express my gratitude for yet another beautiful year of learning.  Every sacrifice Scott and I make – financial and otherwise – to send our children to Catholic school is worth every penny.  I was reminded of that gift today.

As part of my mission to be the “funnest mom ever” I decided to pull the kids out of school right after parties.  The prayer service cuts right into naptime and as the mom of littles who still nap, that time is sacred.  Plus, ending school an hour early just seems silly to me.  Either keep them there all day or let ’em out at noon.  I digress.  We gathered up the chicks and headed to Sonic for a celebratory Happy Hour before heading home.  Three seconds into the car ride, Clare announces she has to go to the bathroom.  Of course she does.  Sonic gets the order wrong.  We get home and Will accidentally drops my DP all over the garage floor and Clare has an accident anyway.  Aww yeah.  That’s exactly how I wanted to start Summer 2012.  You?

I threw away the underwear, went back to Sonic and got the drink half price.  It’s all good.  Summer is here and momma is ready.

May I present a 6th, 3rd, 2nd and Kindergartener to you…but not REALLY until August.  For now, it’s summer baby!
