Advent: Family Movie Night
About three years ago, we started the family movie night tradition during Advent. Albeit, it usually ended with an unfinished movie, crying kids who didn’t want to go to bed and a mom and dad who wondered why in the heck they were doing this. This year, we started to turn a corner.
They were all wiggles on Saturday night, but about 30 minutes into the movie, everyone finally got their egg laid and watched the show. Our choice? Miracle on 34th Street. It’s a classic. We popped some popcorn, got comfy in our pjs and settled in to watch the show. Luke hung in there for about 30 minutes and then we put him to bed. That seemed to help!
I’m certain there are other “Christmasey” movies out there, but our family usually sticks to Miracle on 34th Street and It’s a Wonderful Life. We’ll watch that one in another week or so. There is something so pure and good about Jimmy Stewart, you know? They just don’t make a good Christmas film like they used to. And now I officially sound like my grandmother.
It was a great way to end our busy week!
We did movie night on Saturday too! We chose It’s a Wonderful Life. The youngest two were not interested AT ALL. A bit frustrating, but worth it in the end. Have a good week.
