Pope! Day two.
Oh, my what a day. Great Mass with the Bishop this morning and then off to St. Peter’s for the General Audience with the Holy Father.
Can I tell you how close we were to him! Kathryn will be so JEALOUS! I love you babe and I promise I got great photos.
After a two hour lunch, love those Italians, we toured Tivoli and Villa d’Este and its 1,000 fountains, yes that number is correct.
Do we have a future pope from America…only time will tell….
Finally, dinner with Paolo and Patrizia, our Roman friends. As usual, Paolo didn’t fail me with a traditional Roman dinner including shrimp, octopus, sardines, squid, salmon and pasta. He also introduced me to a new after dinner drink…mirto…yummy!
Thanks Paolo and Patrizia for your friendship. Bacchi…
Off to bed and ready for another day at the Vatican.
Mass will be at St. Peter’s tomb…can I tell you how much I love being Catholic. Buono note!
I seriously started crying when I saw that photo of the Holy Father. Not jealous at all (ok, maybe a little) – just so incredibly thankful that you got to experience an unforgettable day. I had my time back at World Youth Day with JPII. Oh my, I can’t wait to hear more. Loved the photo of the Bish. I LOVE YOU!!
I’m not jealous, either (much). If you get a chance, give Paolo and Patrizia a hug for me.
Enjoy every minute!!
Ciao, Bello
wow! how great! and i love the pic of Bishop Aymond! looks like y’all are having fun!!
Scott,
okay, I have to say that Kevin and I are jealous. Kevin was remarking on how he wished his mom would have had the same opportunity. Besides his father, JP II was the love her life! In fact, she passed away minutes after the JPII movie of his life. I want to share this with Kevin’s aunt, Sister Jeanette, she will love it! She is the oldest nun in our local convent.
Safe travels and, maybe someday, we can travel with you as guest of the Whitaker tour of Rome!
Wow. The Holy Father was looking right at you! What a moment!
[…] 2009, when I was pregnant with our fifth child, Scott accompanied a group of donors to Rome. When he sent me this photo, I wept at my computer. Look at that JOY. Being the Vicar of Christ is […]
