Ciao! Day one.

Well blogger fans, your captian for the next two weeks will be the hubby of the wonderful author of this blog. She has graciously allowed me access to provide some thoughts on my little trip to Rome with the Diocese of Austin.

On Monday, I hugged all the kids and gave the wife a kiss and bid farewell! I thought I was in luck when nobody sat next to me on the plane, but sleep was going to a be problem and God would have none of that…after all I was about to visit the Eternal City.

We landed in Rome at 7 am Rome time (1 am CST) and headed for our hotel. I couldn’t wait to get out on the town. I headed straight for Vatican City. After a brief shopping trip, I grabbed some pizza and headed to the Vatican Gardens…WOW!

When I finished the two hour tour, I headed out to parts of the City I have never visited like Piazza del Popolo and some old favorites like the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. I just love this city.

Stay with me gang, I will light a candle for you tomorrow as we get to visit the Holy Father and see St. Peter’s.

Here are some pics:
