Live Big, Love Bigger: The Book Cover is Here!

There’s a whole, big, beautiful back story here, but I know you came to see the cover. So, let’s just show it first, shall we?!

1 … 2 … 3 …

SURPRISE!

Please tell me you love it as much as I do! Did Ave Maria nail it or did they #nailit?

The back story goes something like this. I’m a freelance graphic designer so well-designed pieces are a big deal to me. I had this “vision” of what I hoped the cover would look like and I prayed hard that Ave would be able to see inside my brain.

And, by “see inside my brain” what I really meant was I sent them three pages of notes, including font suggestions, colors, book covers I loved, backgrounds that screamed TEXAS! and a few photos, particularly of my beloved Old Gringo cowboy boots.

Publishers are the ones who design book covers, not authors. Did you know that? So, while I had input, they ultimately have the final say. It was such a beautiful process and I felt included all along the way. The marketing team and I went back and forth via email with ideas and clarification and when my editor sent me the final cover, I audibly gasped. You can ask Scott. He was driving when I checked my email and almost wrecked the van.

And those boots on the cover? That’s *really* me, wearing those boots. The best part? That photo was taken by one of my dearest friends and sorority sisters, Shannon. She is crazy talented so for it to be her photo on the cover sure makes the whole process even sweeter.

Now I’m crying.

I’m also pretty sure this is the first Catholic book to ever have cowboy boots on the cover. Ha!

We are one step close to this gig actually happening – yee haw! If you haven’t already, please go pre-order the book. I would be so, so grateful!

Congratulations, Kathryn! The only thing missing is a Dr. Pepper shake.
