QOTW: January 11, 2013
It’s been a while since I shared some quotable quotes. I decided it was high time to jump back on that horse.
“YEE-HAW!”
Luke, as I drove through a puddle in the van and splashed water on his window. Man, I love that kid.
“And that’s acclamation…”
Anna-Laura, doing her water cycle rap on ACCUMULATION. I wouldn’t sign her up for a recording contract, yet.
“Ma’am, we have to put you on a payment plan.”
The billing specialist lady at the anesthesiologists office. Girlfriend, take a number. Luke’s heart surgery came in at just under $100K. Our portion is only a fraction of that, but still. Every preemie mom I know groaned when the calendar hit January 1. New deductible year. Le sigh.
“Why are we taking meals to people, Mom? Aren’t you going to feed us?”
John Paul, commenting on why the van smelled so good after two friends’ meal deliveries yet there was nothing cooking at home. He did have a point. No worries. I actually did have a meal at home, it just wasn’t as good as the kids were hoping.
“So, when I get kicked out of the house, how do I sign my name?”
Anna-Laura wondering just how serious we were about our relocation program when she turns 18.
I won’t lie. It’s been a hard week of re-entry around here. Lunches to make, folders to sign, sports practices, client work, early mornings and chores. How many weeks until spring break?? This weekend we have Anna-Laura’s First Reconciliation (oh, so excited about that!) She and her classmates will be the first ones to have reconciliation in the new sanctuary. I’m fairly certain I’ll be the one in the first pew crying. More to come next week.
There’s also a little painting project for the school’s gala. Yes, I volunteered to be the gala project mom for three classes. Oh lawd. I’ve got one completed, one 60% completed and the other 0%. Bets on how far I get this weekend? Gala is February 2. Momma better kick it into high gear and recruit some volunteers. When will I learn?
If you haven’t already, get yourself entered for the Say No To Auto giveaway. Better pictures really can be your reality in 2013. But, get going, it ends Monday.
Make it a great weekend, y’all!
We have a child here about to make his First Penance also. He still needs practice with one line of the Act of Contrition. He keeps saying, “I firmly resolve, with the help of MY grace…” Too funny. Love all of your quotes. Not sure which are funnier…what the kids say, or your reaction to them.
I loved this post, because I have an i-work file that is just for funny/memorable quotes from the children. Oh, happy day on the first confession! Isn’t it wonderful?? My son, George, made his during Advent – makes me cry every time!! Happy (blessed) New Year to you and your family!!
I cried through my first two boys’ confessions, out of just sheer pride. I’ll be a mess. Susan, I don’t tell you enough how much I enjoy YOUR blog. Happy new year to your sweet family, too.
Love the comments…. almost as good as Blaise looking at me and asking when he can have his own apartment! This was after a week at Disney and missing school…. ummmmm reality stinks!
