{Advent} Christmas Lights!

I am a sucker for well-done Christmas lights.  Admittedly, if you drive by our house, our inner-perfectionist wins out.  All our white lights are perfectly straight.  Really, is there any other way to put up lights?  I think not.  Scott and I are believers in a “theme.”  Can’t say that I love a mish-mash of lights and decorations, but…to each their own, right?

That’s what I love about looking at Christmas lights:  seeing everyone’s unique personalities shine through (sorry for the bad pun).  We found some a-mazing lights these past couple of weekends.  So, if you need the 4-1-1 on where the cool lights are in north Austin, you’ve arrived at just the place.

Round Rock:  Forest Creek
2708 Collingwood Drive
Seriously folks, this family has 14,000+ LED lights all synchronized to music.  Be sure to have your car radio ready.  They have their own frequency!  Totally worth the drive.  Shows run continously to the theme of “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” (they totally had me right there) from 6-9pm and the lights stay on until 10.  And, for a little icing on the cake, there are some other spectacularly decorated houses in this neighborhood.

Cedar Park:  Chinati Court
It’s just behind Milburn Park.  These eight houses, located in a cul-de-sac, have their own miny Trail of Lights.  The theme is “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” and they’re collecting toys for Brown Santa.  It’s a spectacular display of community and the kids loved all the lights.  Awesome!

Cedar Park:  2410 Sharon Drive
Another synchronized show to Christmas music.  Tune to 95.5 and enjoy the show by the Rhodes Family.  They’re also collecting canned goods for a local food bank.  I will say the house in Round Rock won our hearts for “best in show”, but this one is pretty darn awesome.

There are certainly other neighborhoods worth checking out, but here’s a good start for some houses totally worth the drive.  If you know of any others in Austin, comment.  We have the van ready!

I will say that we had peace and nostalgia in our car while we were sitting in front of said awesome houses.  However, it was not so Norman Rockwell while driving to each house.  Um, yeah.  That attitude needs some work.  I pretty much wanted to gouge out my eardrums.  Just keepin’ it real 🙂

Rigsbee Court in Circle C is by far the best in Austin. You can get out of the car and walk around. The kids love it!
