Top Ten: Never Say Never, Huh?

I’ve often said, “Oh, I will never do X.”  Only to be shamed into actually doing it and hearing an ‘I told you so.’  Funny haha.

This weekend John Paul’s teachers asked us to send in a photo of our child’s baptism.  That scavenger hunt led me down memory lane and I saw just how much Scott and I have aged (I mean, learned) in the last 9 years.  My my, I could so write that book just on this topic alone.  Working on it.

In no particular order, here are ten things I said I’d NEVER do.

TOP TEN:  NEVER SAY NEVER, HUH?

1.  Let my kids eat cookies for breakfast.

2.  Turn my kids underwear inside out and make them wear it another day.

3.  Wear the same clothes three days in a row because it was such a cute outfit combo…and hope that no one noticed the repeat.

4.  Drink a glass of wine…at 3pm…on a school day.

5.  Watch my kids throw a monumental fit in a public place and act like they weren’t mine.

6.  Hire someone to clean my house.

7.  Exercise.

8.  Disobey my pediatrician and do it our way anyway.

9.  Co-sleep with my babies.

10. Take my kids to school in my pajamas.

You make me laugh. Thank the Lord you are around to let me know "it's ok to have a beer in the middle of the afternoon." I truly look up to your mothering skills and say, "I wonder if Kathryn would do this?" And you do. So, I'm ok too. Letting my kids eat cookies for supper as I did last night.

I'm glad someone else laughs at my life besides me, Molly! Cookies rock.

You always leave me smiling! I am so there with you…on every point!!! As far as pjs to school…I thought a baseball cap changed the outfit from pjs to simply casual…no?

Yes, Marin, I believe it does. Point well made.

You can't imagine how many words I've had to eat about things I'd never do… remember, our kids are adopted. Most of our friends had kids way before we did and it was not uncommon for us, after spending time with our friends with kids, to say, "Boy! Our kids will never do anything like that!!!"

Wow…I'm guilty of my fair share of those, especially lately! We're always growing and becoming better versions of ourselves. That's how I see it 🙂

You gotta tell me where you got that shirt. My wife's birthday is coming up and I think I have found a winner.
