Did I sign up for this?

Well, I thought I was prepared to be a baseball mom. I had the soccer mom and basketball mom gigs down pat.

Kathryn meet baseball.

Baseball meet Kathryn.

In the last 10 days, we’ve gotten 12 emails about baseball. Yep, 12. That, in addition to the reminders about the SEVEN practices in the next 2.5 weeks. If you’re counting, that’s two practicies a week for five-year-olds. Am I missing something here? These kids are not the big leagues. They can barely remember to pee before the game starts.

I’m trying to put on my happy pants here. Not too convincing, huh?

We missed the first practice, so we’ll venture out there tomorrow night. I’d be grumpier, but John Paul is SO looking forward to baseball. And, he put on his uniform last night and that made me smile and forget (almost, but not quite) how much of a leap of faith this season is going to be.

So, off we go to the diamond. I’ll keep you posted.

Good luck! My brother did baseball through high school and we LIVED at the baseball fields. But it is, I must say, tons of fun!

I wish I could say that it was different here in Houston. I guess we just take our sports kinda seriously in the South….especially football and baseball.

For the record, I had a revelation Jerry McGuire-style yesterday regarding parents-behaving-badly in youth sports, but I don’t think I can post it on my blog. We’ll see how it comes together.
