Happy #12! (and counting…)
Today, at exactly 3:32pm, Scott and I celebrate our 12th anniversary. Has it really been 12 years…4 kids, a mortgage payment, 3 major moves, surgeries, hospital visits and countless soccer games…yes, I suppose it has.
When we professed those wedding vows 12 years ago, we had no idea (nobody does, really) what to expect. You know, ’cause it’s all wedding cake, wedding dress, wedding Mass, wedding, wedding, wedding. You’re so caught up in the day, the tears, the joy, the excitement, that nobody tells you what lies ahead.
Nobody told me I would marry my soul mate.
Nobody told me that in 12 years, we’d be the parents of 4 awesome children.
Nobody told me we would miscarry a baby at 9 weeks.
Nobody told me just how much I would come to rely – spiritually, emotionally, physically, psychologically – on this handsome blue-eyed man that stood next to me at the altar.
Nobody told me that I would love him more today than on July 27, 1996.
Even though nobody told me…God knew. He led us together and reassured us that by making our marriage a covenant, a bond between the three of us, that he would help us celebrate the many joys (and there have been so many) and carry us through the valleys (every marriage has them).
As our priest said in Mass a few weeks ago, there are some things in which the human language does not provide adequate words to express how we feel. Today is one of those days.
Scott, I love you. I am more than thankful that God prepared for me this beautiful life with you. Happy Anniversary. Raise a glass to many more 🙂
Happy 12th y’all! Love you both!
Happy Anniversary to a wonderful couple! Here’s to many more years of marital bliss 🙂 God bless you!
Thanks for the well wishes…it was a truly exceptional day.
