Week in My Life: Wednesday, Nov. 15

Once a year, I document our life for seven days. I share the real stuff, the hard stuff, the funny stuff and everything in between. Mostly, I do it because our lives are full and I fear I’ll forget the little things we do that really form our family. Maybe someday the kids will enjoy these posts as much as I enjoy writing them. Ha! You can read all about it: MondayTuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

At this point, you’re probably thinking, “Does she do anything else except eat BBQ?”

Trust me, tomorrow I’ll be back to Dr Pepper, goldfish and quesadillas with a size of crazy. But, for today, I have one last day in Dallas. It has been spectacular!

At 5:25am I dra-agged myself out of bed for that morning Pure Barre workout. I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t go. My throat and back are both better (thankyouverymuchsatan) and I was ready for the day. After squeezes from my cute nephews and niece and a longer squeeze for my gracious sister-in-law, I got to enjoy some fine Dallas traffic.

Kinda like Austin, but on steroids. Alas, I got in some good prayer and thinking time and arrived at St. Francis for my first of two talks right on time. I am always touched by the beauty of these mother’s groups. I don’t remember having that richness at my fingertips as a brand new mom. What a gift it is to be in community with them.

After my morning talk, I headed to downtown Austin to not only check off another BBQ joint (this is why we’re doing it all!), but to spend time with a dear friend of ours. David was a yell leader at Texas A&M in the late 80s and we’ve known him since Scott was elected in the mid-90s. We count him as one of the finest, dearest, most amazing Aggies we know. In two hours, we solved all of A&M’s problems, chatted life and ate some really, really good ‘cue. Plus, David showed me the cutest little pie place. I know what I’m eating for dinner on the drive home!

After lunch, I made a small stop at Costco. Because I clearly need a life.

Now, I’m currently holed up in a coffee shop frantically cranking out client work and answering emails since my arrival back home tonight will be super late. I had a small panic today. My phone is suuuuuper old and keeps dying on me. It decided to die as I was on the tollway. Fortunately, I knew the way to the church tonight. Please Jesus, help it get me home!

Some of the sweetest news of the day came from The Catholic Woman. Go give that letter a read, and then pass it along to a woman you know that’s struggling.

We’re all in this together, mamas.

I’ll be back home, rested and grateful for the last few days very soon. I’m ready for some normal. Y’all?
