Week in My Life: Sunday, Nov. 19
Once a year, I document our life for seven days. I share the real stuff, the hard stuff, the funny stuff and everything in between. Mostly, I do it because our lives are full and I fear I’ll forget the little things we do that really form our family. Maybe someday the kids will enjoy these posts as much as I enjoy writing them. Ha! You can read all about it: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
After a full, but fun, weekend we got a slow start to our Sunday morning. We enjoyed breakfast with cousins before they headed home and probably a little too much screen time.
Oh well, vacation.
Scott headed up to the church to assist with a class on stewardship while I jumped in the shower and we did some homework/client work. I know, the homework is killing me. I made the kids do it all today so I don’t have to say that word for seven more days!
After lunch, Will headed off to a 4-H practice that he drove himself and a friend to – that is still SO weird – while Scott painted the bathroom and did some last minute electrical and cleaning up before the tile guys come tomorrow to waterproof everything.
I blogged and worked, the kids played with neighbors, Gianna napped and at 4:30 we loaded up the troops for 5pm Sunday evening Mass. Serving is a family affair around here – I lectored, the boys were altar servers and Scott was a Eucharistic Minister. Allowing my kids to take part in the liturgy is (I hope) helping foster a love of the sacraments. If I can help them fall in love with the sacrifice at the altar, my hope is God will always take root in their hearts. It was a scream-free, drama-free Mass and for that, I was grateful. The kids were pretty excited to choose their angel gift for a kid in need, so that could’ve been the reason for good behavior. Whatever it was, I’ll take it.
Scott whipped up a wonderful Sunday evening meal and we enjoyed a nice evening at home. We had big plans to place the HEB grocery order to go, but it looks like that will have to happen on Monday.
You know, this week was full of lessons and hard conversations, learning opportunities, joy and some arguments. I suppose it was a typically atypical week. I should go to bed earlier, tell Scott I appreciate him more, yell less and spend time with friends and family more. 2017 was a hard year for us, but the lessons were not lost on me, especially this week as we head into Thanksgiving.
May you have a blessed week of gratitude and let’s journey into Advent with fuller hearts!
