Week in My Life: Saturday, Nov. 18

Once a year, I document our life for seven days. I share the real stuff, the hard stuff, the funny stuff and everything in between. Mostly, I do it because our lives are full and I fear I’ll forget the little things we do that really form our family. Maybe someday the kids will enjoy these posts as much as I enjoy writing them. Ha! You can read all about it: MondayTuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

I would like to tell you that my day was crazy busy and full of lots of fun, but I handed all that nuts over to Scott! While my cousin and her boys headed off to a college visit at Texas State, Will and I and two friends trekked east to College Station for a 4-H scholarship workshop. That left Scott to manage the tile guys, a 4-H service project and dinner.

He’s a keeper!

The scholarship workshop was all day and we were exhausted when we rolled home at 5pm. Scott had it all humming when we walked in the door. After dinner, he even took all the boys to an Austin Spurs basketball game, while Jamie and I enjoyed another beer, college football and more conversation. The cherry on the top of the ice cream was the Aggies beating Ole Miss!

The boys were thrilled to run into former A&M basketball play, Alex Caruso. He spotted those A&M shirts straight away. The boys had an absolute blast. It was also affirming to know that I’m not the only mom whose boys believe athletic shorts should be the standard dress code. Ha!

And that’s your Saturday, with a pretty poor showing in photographs. Mea culpa.

I came across this post and just had to point we’re friends the Caruso family here in College Station and thought you’d be happy to know Alex and his family are Catholic. Alex was even an alter server. He was very easy to spot as a junior high and high school student because he was significantly taller than his fellow alter servers. Great kid and even better family!

They are a great family. I used to work with Mike when I was connected to the basketball program! We’re very proud of Alex.
