Week in My Life: Monday, Nov. 13
It’s time for Week in My Life! I originally started this back in 2013. And, I’ve done it every year since (2014 and 2015), except last year. I think that’s when the crazy hopper was on full speed.
I’m sharing bits and pieces (and videos) over on Instagram, but I’m a writer at heart. Plus, I want to document life for my kids to look back on someday. Color me nostalgic.
Once a year, I document our life for seven days. I share the real stuff, the hard stuff, the funny stuff and everything in between. Mostly, I do it because our lives are full and I fear I’ll forget the little things we do that really form our family. Maybe someday the kids will enjoy these posts as much as I enjoy writing them. Ha!You can read all about it: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Alright, Monday. She was full of surprises. Around 4:13am I woke up with a horrible throat and an aching back. Yay me. I cancelled my 5:45am workout, hit snooze and tried to rest while Scott got the crew up, going, fed and off to school. He’s a keeper, that Mr. Whitaker.
I showered, poured myself some hot tea, downed some ibuprofen and tried to crank out some emails and loose ends before Gianna awoke. Can I just say how utterly amazing it is to have a kid who sleeps in? It only took me six! kids!
After a diaper change (we will ignore the fact she’s almost 3.5 and not potty trained, okay) and breakfast, we picked up the house and then headed to HEB for curbside pickup. Or, as I like to call it, GENIUS.
I usually input the order Sunday night, but Scott saw my major freakout of having to do all the things, and he just stepped right in. That’s 21 years of marriage, y’all.
After groceries were unloaded, I got Gianna settled in for a little PBS Kids while I finished up a few things for work, packed and made lunch. We hung out and ate lunch, then I rocked her to sleep for her nap.
That never gets old.
Oh, to be the baby of the family.
While she napped, I got some major client work off to the printer, answered more emails and finished up all the loose ends before school pickup.
John Paul got busy raking for the neighbors, and recruited a few helpers, the kids got going on homework and Will ate all my leftovers. Life with teenage boys.
Scott arrived home early and I headed out for the Big D for my speaking engagements on Tuesday and Wednesday. St. Michael, pray for me! I feel incredibly blessed and honored that people want to hear what I have to say. May the Holy Spirit guide my words.
And, equally blessed to have a husband who supports me along the way. We really pray and discern before we dive in and ask how it will affect our family. They come first for me.
The drive to Dallas was long, but good. I’m mostly sad that because I was so focused on driving I completely missed stopping at the world’s best gas station, Buc-ee’s. My Texas peeps will understand. No worries, I’ll catch it on the way back.
I’m all settled in at my brother-in-law and sister-in-law’s house who are the absolute best for hosting me the next couple of days.
Until Tuesday…
Gianna is such a cutie!! I love the big cheesy toddler smiles and nap time snuggles. <3
You inspired me to do a WIML in 2015 (just for me… don’t blog, but I’m totally nostalgic like you). I re-read mine recently when I was thinking it was about that time of year for you, and I can’t even really remember that life was like that. It’s really a snapshot of your life in that moment, and those everyday things get deleted from mind. Maybe I’ll join you again this year 🙂
Oh how awesome! It is so great to look back on our lives for a week, isn’t it?

I’ve always enjoyed your WIML series and have also blogged the same the last couple years. (I vaguely remember it being a link up.) it’s already Wed but I just may jump back into it because it’s so fun to read over these and see how our lives have progressed over the years. 🙂
It was a link up but I just didn’t have the bandwidth to do it this year. I’m finally all updated. What a crazy fun week, though!
