Week in My Life 2014, Friday
Welcome to Week in My Life! Scroll on down to the bottom for today’s linky!
It’s Friday! It’s Friday! Praise the good and merciful Lord. It flew by this week but probably because I didn’t sleep any of it! Today, it was all about finding the lemonade in the lemons and enjoying the small moments.
Because, really, life is all about the small moments.
You know the drill by now. G slept meh, I woke up late (7:45ish) after being up a few times last night and Scott got the kids off to school. If there’s anything I’ve learned this week it’s that my husband is a rock star. He headed off to work while I got ready. Gianna got easily bored by the hair dryer and my makeup routine, so I propped her in the Bumbo on the bathroom counter. Desperate times = desperate measures.
Fridays are usually our catch up day and lay low. Luke gets to watch TV in the morning and he’s in heaven. So while he mastered the Apple TV remote and Gianna chewed on her feet, I cleaned up the kitchen and picked up the house. Then, naptime. Or, not naptime, as the case may be. I had just enough time to make one client phone call when I heard her screaming. Plan B for the morning. We loaded up the van and ran a couple of quick errands that I thought weren’t going to happen today. Winning?
My favorite drive-thru post office was open but the drive-thru was shut down today. Nooooo. But, they were kind enough to give Luke a sucker and we happily moved along to HEB.
Funny quotes from Luke this morning: When he spotted an airplane from “Planes” in the toy aisle, he says, “Ooooh, that’s so awesome. But, not today, right Mom? Maybe next time.” HA! I think I say that everytime. I was just thankful a meltdown was averted.
As we were checking out, he pointed to the Hershey’s and exclaims, “Look, Mom! It’s your favorite candy.” He is my son.
We came home for a quick lunch, some playtime in the living room and then off for naps. He loves beating me and Gianna up the stairs and then hiding behind the big chair in his room. Just as we go looking for him, he yells out “BOO!” and then cracks up. I love it.
After Gianna went down for her nap, I closed the bedroom door, looked around the living room and just sighed.
So many things needed to be picked up, put away, recycled or moved. But, today, I heard my priest’s voice from a few weeks ago reminding us to parent with love. I spotted Luke’s beloved robot. “It’s missing him’s arms, momma, but that’s okay. It’s still fun to play wif.”
I spotted Gianna’s sweet new skirt from Nell, Luke’s book order form from school and lots of wet toys that Gianna tried out this morning. Proof of love. I adore having a baby in the house again. Even though I’m 40, she makes me feel young.
Then there was the angel from school reminding me of Luke’s good deed this week. He passed out everyone’s water bottles during lunch without being asked. Perhaps some of the lessons we’re teaching in our home are taking root.
And this NASA bag. It’s been hanging on that hook since mid-October. Will and I had a spectacular day there. At some point we’ll sort through it all, but for now it reminded me that time with my oldest will slip by faster than I’d like.
Sorry about the sap. I think I finally heeded Sister’s advice to slow down today and see God’s handiwork. Later today, we’ll load up and head east to College Station. Our night will be filled with good friends, lots of yell leaders and a Midnight Yell Practice, perhaps. I promise to come back here and share the reverie and photos. Until then, make it a great Friday and we’ll talk tomorrow.
Fire up! It’s Aggie football time!

Have a GREAT time at the game!
Oh I wish! Baby G has to have a ticket so I gave mine to Clare and she’s enjoying the game with her dad. Next year!
Hi Kathryn! I’m having trouble getting to the linkup…getting an error message. I’ll check again later. Loving this linkup!
Hmmm, just checked and it’s working fine. Give it another shot!

I’m having trouble linking up too, it says page not found.
Julie, I can only check on my mobile but it’s working from there.
Drive thru post office???? I must say I’m jealous! It took me going to the post office 3 times in 2 days to get 2 packages mailed!!!!
Ah, you make me feel better about sleeping in the past 2 days while daddy got up with baby. 🙂
Also… drive through post office?!? I need one of those in my life!!
I was just going to comment that I need a drive thru post office but then I remembered…this week while standing in line I could over hear the conversation between the elderly woman and man in front of me. They sis not know each other but realized they had something in common–truck driving. The man had been one and the woman had helped her husband drive; the husband she revealed had just passed away two weeks previous. I was able to say a little prayer for his soul and her heart. It was so kind to see the consolation the elderly man offered her. It totally made standing in line at the post office worth it.
Just caught up and read through your whole week! I just LOVE your blog. Love love love it!!! You are such an amazing person!
Luke is JUST adorable!! What a sweet little face he has… 🙂
