Update 7.7.09

Man, this baby is going to give me heart palpitations…oh wait, already have those.

At 0545 this morning, one of our fire alarms ran out of juice and the incessant beeping woke Scott and I up out of a nice sleep. It also reminded me that it had been more than 24 hours since I really felt significant movement from Baby W. I started to have major freakout. To give you the whole story, I actually called the nurse yesterday because I was worried. I had been feeling quite a bit of movement last week, and then it slowly tapered off to like 2-3 kicks a day.

All my babies have been kickers. Reason #52 for the tears this morning. That’s becoming a regular gig. So, I called the on-call doc and hauled myself up to Seton this morning at 6am. They hooked me up to the fetal monitor and after the longest 30 seconds of my life (with the sweet doctor holding my hand) we heard that beautiful, strong heartbeat. I was happy to listen to the thump, thump, thump, KICK, thump for about an hour.

Hey, so I can check two things off my to-do list: 1) tour of the L&D wing at the hospital and 2) filling out my pre-registration form. Excellent. That’s what we call the silver lining on the proverbial cloud.

I’m back home now, feeling quite relieved and reassured. Delivering at 26 weeks was not high on the agenda this week…or any week for that matter. Next visit is in a week, so until then, I have some fun stories from our summertime mania to share.
